Search for alien life has always been one of the major aims of humans. Many kinds of research are being conducted to find the first sign of life outside the earth. The first question that arises when we think about alien life is that how would they actually look and how do they lead a life on their planet. Nikolai Kardashev, an astronomer in 1964 proposed a theory to classify the technological advancement of any civilization in the universe, known as the “Kardashev scale”.
He classified civilizations into 4 types:
a) Type I Civilization
b) Type II Civilization
c) Type III Civilization
d) Type IV Civilization
Type I Civilization
A type I civilization is the one that stores all the resources which are available on their planet. All resources are properly utilized for the development of their home planet. They would have control over natural forces such as weather, earthquakes, etc.,
Currently, the earth has a scale value of 0.74 and it will take around 100-200 years to reach the status of type I civilization.
Type II Civilization
A type II Civilization has control over its planetary system as a whole and can harness entire energy from its star. This type of civilization would be capable of building a special structure known as ‘Dyson Sphere’ around their star so that it can extract all the energy from the star which can then be used as a resource for planetary development.
Type III Civilization
This type of civilization has control not only over its planetary system but also over other planetary systems within a galaxy. They can easily travel from one system to another at a speed faster than light. They use the resources of all planetary systems efficiently for the development of their own planet.
Type IV Civilization
If you think that type III civilization is the most complex then this one is more complex than everything you have seen before as they would have the power to manipulate the energy of an entire universe, and can travel to any part of their universe in a short time. They might be aware of the existence but they might not consider humans as important species in the universe.
Following these civilization there is a hypothetical one named as “Ω(omega) Civilization ”
They would be capable of creating an entire universe and would be able to travel between multiverse. As it is similar to explaining the concept of building a bridge to an ant, it is beyond our imagination to understand the basic principles of their work.
Humans are very far from even understanding these types of civilization, but it is believed that there might exist civilizations only up to type II. Who knows? Space is full of mysteries where we still haven’t found any other planetary creatures as we have just begun our exploration.
